What is Aqiqa?
Aqiqa is the sacrifice of livestock such as goats and sheep that takes place at the birth of a child that is performed as part of the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
By performing Aqiqa it is a way to express your gratitude towards Allah SWT for blessing you with a baby. According to the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), one animal is sacrificed at the birth of a baby girl and two animals are sacrificed for the birth of a baby boy.
