The Situation In Sudan
Military confrontations across Sudan, including in areas like Darfur, Gezira, Khartoum, and Kordofan, has driven the number of internally displaced persons to a staggering 12.3 million. It is estimated that about half of these are children. The malnutrition and food crisis remains critical. It has been reported that rates are exceeding emergency levels (Global Acute Malnutrition, 2024 SMART surveys). Cholera outbreaks also spread widely, with over 18,000 cases and over 500 deaths reported across 10 states – these figures are likely underestimated due to limited surveillance in conflict zones.
