The Current Situation in Bangladesh

In the past 24 hours, substantial rainfall has affected the areas of Narayanhat in Chattogram, Chattogram and Cumilla with as much as 201 mm of rain. Water levels have risen in major rivers in these regions causing widespread flooding. Extensive damage to vital infrastructure, including roads, farmland, water infrastructure, and shelters, have been reported.

These floods have affected more than 4 million people across 11 districts. This includes 2 million women – 50,000 of which are pregnant and lactating, 1.5 million children, and over 300,000 elderly people.

Your help is needed immediately. The risk of waterborne disease spreading is imminent, as well as lack of access to food and shelter. The scale of the devastation has put the people in the direct path of illness or death.
