What You Need To Know

Heavy Monsoon rains in the Northern regions of Pakistan have caused catastrophic flash flooding and landslides and damage to homes and other infrastructure. So far, more than 2,000 people have been displaced from their homes as heavy flood waters washed away their homes. Rivers and other bodies of water have risen dramatically causing concern for people and livestock. The worst hit area thus far has been the Buner area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where 184 deaths were reported.

Vital infrastructure such as roads, power lines, and water lines have been damaged. The spread of waterborne disease as well as difficulty in accessing health care, has government officials and humanitarian agencies worried about the death toll increasing.
