Penny Appeal Canada Takes to the Water – and We’re Racing for a Reason

The World Has Looked Away. We Won’t.
For millions of families in Sudan, survival is an exhausting, daily fight. The least we can do is help those families suffering.
That’s exactly what we’re doing. Penny Appeal Canada is competing in the Al Noor Boat Race, and every stroke we take on race day is raising funds for our Sudan Emergency Response. This deployed response is helping to deliver life-saving aid to families caught in the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
How It Works
You don’t need to be an Olympic rower. You need team spirit, a willingness to get a little wet, and a heart for meaningful impact.
Here’s the breakdown:
Sign Up: Register as an individual or assemble your crew (teams of paddlers welcome). Your $50 registration gets you race entry, a personal fundraising page, and bragging rights for life.
Fundraise: Your fundraising page is your secret weapon. Share it. Post it. Send it to your group chats. Every dollar you raise goes directly to our emergency response in Sudan. Fundraising Target: $500 per individual · $10,000 per team.
Race: On August 1st, you’ll take your place on the water at Welland’s world-class flatwater centre and race for something that truly matters.
Make Waves: Your effort on race day translates into a real, tangible difference – vital life saving relief for our brothers and sisters facing the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.

The Problem We’re Paddling Against
Here’s a number that should stop you in your tracks: 33.7 million people in Sudan are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance, the highest of any country on earth.
More than three years of brutal conflict have torn communities apart. Families have been forced from their homes, hospitals have been bombed, and food systems have collapsed. Nearly 9 million people are internally displaced with nowhere safe to go, and famine has taken hold in multiple regions with children paying the heaviest price.
The scale of suffering is staggering. But behind every statistic is a mother, a father, a child, just trying to survive another day under the shadow of a conflict so brutal.
Penny Appeal Canada has deployed an emergency response to help deliver life-saving aid to families. Your support of our boats will directly help bring food, clean water, emergency medical care, and shelter for families who have lost everything.

Why Penny Appeal Canada Is In
This race is a chance for our team to go beyond writing a cheque. We’re competing alongside our community, putting in real effort for a cause that deserves real action.
We’re building our boat race squad and we want you with us. Whether you’re a colleague, a friend, a client, or someone who just really likes paddling, there’s a seat on this team for you.
Can’t Race? Still Make a Splash.
Not everyone can be on the water, but everyone can be part of the wave.
Donating to a team member means your contribution goes directly to emergency response in Sudan.
